At germination tests run at AgriSeed in April 2005, Wild Horse had a 74% germination rate after 10 days compared to Kenblue at 43%, Shamrock at 33%, Famous at 42% and Abbey at 54%. Wild Horse has done very well in the August 1999 turf trials at Rutgers University in Adelphia, New Jersey. Wild Horse had the highest spring green-up ratings in the trial, taken in April 2003, out of 165 varieties. It showed improved stripe smut resistance and good overall quality for 2000-2003.
